21st Singapore International Film Festival

18 Grams of Love
Han Yew Kwang | Singapore | 2007 | 85 mins | PG

I thought this film is going to suck.
But it turned out to be the best.
Very delightful.
Too bad only maybe about a hundred people got to see this good film last night.
Look out for this show in the future. They are trying to push it for a wider distribution.
Finally. A ray of light (for me) for local film industry :)

Amina
Khadija Al-Salami | Yemen | 2007 | 75 mins | PG

I've always depended on SIFF to watch documentaries about things that are going on in other parts of the world.
This is a nice film that informs.
And of course, we have to remember that the film maker (Khadija Al-Salami) made that film in Yemen. That will mean that she risked much of her well being while making this film.

I’m Not There
Todd Haynes | USA | 2007 | 135 mins | M18

If you ask me.
All these years of learning about films.
All the time of trying to find out what film means to me.
I realised that making a film should never be solely a self indulgence project.
This is why I didn't like the film.
Cate Blanchett wasn't that great too.
