I'm A L'Oréal Boy

If you decide that your current lover is more valuable than our years of friendship, please show yourself to the door.

If you think you can cancel an appointment with me at the last minute without a good reason, please do not ask me out in the first place.

If you think I am disposable, you are mistaken.

If you think I will settle for second best, you must not know me very well.

I am a L'Oréal Boy.
Because I am worth it.

Big Bang Love, Juvenile A

Helmed by acclaimed director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer), this film tells the story of a bond that develops between Jun (Ryuhei Matsuda, Cutie Honey) and Shiro (Masanobu Ando, Black Kiss), two inmates of a juvenile hall - and the tragedy that comes from it.

I searched for a while to find a good sypnosis. And the above is it. The director didn't choose to depict the love between the two characters in the way we are used to seeing. And if you are thinking about Big Bang Love Titanic style.. (or whatever), you will probably hate the film.
But has its Bang in its way..

I do enjoy the film, though I did not understand it fully.
Maybe it wasn't meant to be.

I particularly love the one scene when the two characters are talking about their life path.
It goes something like this:
Jun: Where will you choose to go? To heaven or into space?
Shiro: Space.
Jun: Why?
Shiro: It's less crowded, I guess. What about you? Where do you want to go?
Jun: Into space, maybe..
Shiro: Be honest.
Jun: Maybe to heaven..
Shiro: Ah.. That's why..
Jun: Maybe you will see aliens in outer space.
Shiro: maybe..
Jun: Don't you believe there is afterlife?
Shiro: Well, if there is, there is. If there is not, there will not.
Jun: What about ghosts?
Shiro: You must be joking..
Jun: hmm.. Do you mind if I follow you to where you are going?
Shiro: To where?

I'm sure I left out some lines from the real script. But I do love how it layered the relationship and added so much emotions in just these few lines.

I also learnt a few technical things from the film.
The editing.
The direction.
The sound and music arrangement.

To be honest, if you are not art film fan, save your money.
If you do not take joy in the technical side of film, you will not enjoy it as much.

There is more than one way to enjoy a film.
Just like in the film, there is more than one way to love somebody..

I Have A Bad Memory

I used to say that all the time when it's time to study for History Tests.
But things change when I topped a class history test.
Then I realised, all I had to do was to study harder.
I was about 15 years old and I had got borderline passes before that.

Don't we sometimes set self-defeating predictions for ourselves to fulfill?
I struggled for a year to get bad results so that I can 'have a memory'.
I have said mean things to family and friends because I want to be 'straight-forward and honest'.
How stupid.

And I always see self defeating prophecies.
Someone told me, "I cannot initiate the breakup because I am not the bad person."
Someone else told me, "I am helpless."
"Love doesn't last, why should I be faithful?"
"Don't learn french because you can't speak like the french people."

With all the obvious reasons to stop your stupidity.
Ask yourself, "What are you trying to prove?"

St James

Me and roomie and neighbours went to St James last thursday.
I was out of town so could only blog now.

The experience wasn't too good.
Jazz room is a little too pop.
Tiger Live lip syncs.
Missed the mexican room performance.
Dragonfly is a little scary.. only saw one good performer.
Powerhouse was empty.. we went there too late.
The only nice thing was the little photoshoot the four of us did.

haha.

Stolen From Hsien

其实,时间就像黄金甲里女人的乳沟,挤挤还是有的。

Actually, time is like those cleavages in Curse of the Golden Flower.
You can somehow manage to squeeze some out, if you want to.

Bonne Année

We all start somewhere.
May 2007 be where we step out to find the happiness we are looking for.

Love, Gage
